at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Panasonic Comtemporary painting Exhibition for "The Happiness of Mankind" 2002

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Fourth Panasonic Contemporary Painting Exhibition 'For the Happiness of Mankind'' 2002. I wish to express our deep appreciation for your kind consent to preside over the opening ceremony today. And with your kind permission, I would like to briefly report on the development of this project.
The Siew-National Company Limited is committed to support and promote every kind of activity that contributes to the advancement of our Thai society. One such activity is the Panasonic Contemporary Painting Competition 'For the Happiness of Mankind'. We sincerely believe that the event will help to stimulate creative activities, shaping an atmosphere conducive to innovative thinking and experiments among Thai artists, and to generate art awareness and appreciation among the public in general.
The Company is convinced that this event represents one of the means through which one can contribute to the betterment of our Thai society. And it is also an important part of our endeavor and commitment to create happiness for mankind as a whole.
This exhibition is the fourth of the Panasonic Contemporary Painting Competition, in which 192 paintings from 125 artists were submitted. The Committee has selected 66 paintings from 60 artists for the exhibition. And there are 16 paintings that receive an award in the following categories
First Prize 1 painting,Second Prize 2 paintings, Third Prize 3 paintings, Outstanding Achievement 10 paintings,
In organizing this painting competition and exhibition, the Company wishes to thank the following institutions for their dedicated cooperation the Fine Arts Department, the Art Centre, Silpakorn University, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, the Faculty of Arts, Khon Kacn University: the Faculty of Arts, Burapa University, the Faculty of Arts, Maha Sarakam University; Rajaphat Institute, SongkUla; the College of Fine Arts, Suphan Buri: the College of Fine Arts, Nakhon Sri Thammarat: Muang Hongsa Gallery, Chaturapak Piman Ratchadapisek School, Roi Et: the Silom Galleria, the distinguished judging committee: and a large number of artists who help see to it that this event achieve its objectives in full.
