Ajarn Vira Jothaprasert has said that studying art with Silpakorn University founder Professor Silpa Bhirasri (Corrado Feroci) taught him all he needed to know about his field, from the very fundamentals to the specifics of each branch of art. Even though more than forty years have passed, Ajarn Vira still recalls how Professor Silpa stressed the importance of study in the creation of any work of art. This could mean formal academic training or the study of nature or the past, but study, combined with his honesty and integrity, is what informs all of Ajarn Vira's work and gives it its distinct character. Ajarn Vira is particularly skilled in watercolor painting and printmaking, especially the techniques of etching and monotype. His art is unique, and despite the length of his career, he remains just as driven in his search for new knowledge, techniques, and themes as when he first started out. A new series of works has usually appeared every two or three years, and in every case, these works are the products of careful study and deep reflection. Ajarn Vira's art is always captivating and always worthy of our attention.
