Folk Culture into the Art of Honouring Good Citizens By KRAISORN PRASERT This art exhibition is composed of the works of painting art since 1992. In order to spread to the public and to show my development of creating works, 1 have divided my works into 4 series, as follows: The first series ranges from 1992 to 1993. The culture of dressing of hilltribes changing according to the modern culture is created by combining the jeans and the hilltride-cloth patterns through etching-the jean cloth is placed on the metal mould, which it is called soft ground technique and also using the chine colle technique. The second one is from 1994 -1995. The idea from the first series leads to this series by taking folk media i.e. bamboo handicrafts and various instruments to show the folk culture simply through the etching technique and partly the chine colle technique. The third series is from 1994-1997. The life styles of the villagers in the northern region of Thailand are related to the culture and tradition i.e. the spirit support calling, the star-born fortune, Telling, the life expanding etc. by taking the symbols used in those rituals such as supporting sticks, flags, twelve star animal pictures etc. to create depending on my own thoughts by using the former techniques. Moreover, the authentic material is taken into the works as well as studied the installation art. The forth series is from 1997 until now. 1 have examined various information and consulted many experts in art. Professor Chalood Nimsamer is one who gives me the new thought by taking the belief of northern people about putting the flag at the dead area from the accident which made the dead rebirth. 1 have that idea to create in the form of installation art by taking the story of good citizens to sacrifice society in order to express the good deed to the public and then give awareness to do that. The exhibition began since 1997 entitled ' Art after death ' in the story of a rider of threewheeled car which had rescued a woman monger from a thief who took her gold necklace at Wat Nang, Bangkok. The name of the exhibition later is changed into ' An art exhibition to honour good citizens ' in story of Christopher Jack Benjakul in the form of postcards distributed to the public to write for encouragement and then compiled into installation art at the national gallery. The story of May 1992 heroes is taken into consideration at the democracy monument in the occasion ' commemorate the nine years after the May 1992 event. In the latest, 1 have taken the story of the hire motorbike driver who is brave to fight the robber of the gold shop and then died at Hua Ro, Ayutthaya in the form of installation art in order to be example of good citizen in Thai society.
