FOR his debut solo exhibition, emerging artist Kittisak Thapkoa’s series of delicate yet disturbing graphic drawings on canvas are a prophetic personal allegory to human sin, with the moral and spiritual fallout of such conduct.
Using pencil, charcoal and coloured powder, he imaginatively manifests a society incapable of escaping past evils with a sermonizing hope that his horrific imagery will help break the destructive cycle.

IN Kittisak’s torturous judgmental renderings, twisted and broken limbs entangle and enflame with demonic bestial skulls and claws.
Dramatic spikes rise to impale the damned in his woeful Inferno-like scenes that forebode on earthly waywardness. Through refined draftsmanship, the 26-year-old native of Nakon Ratchasima province exudes a conscience and moral countenance beyond his years.

EVOKING symbolic underworld murals and carvings featured in the architecture of Buddhist temples, as well as depictions of hell and damnation that run through the canon of Christian art, Kittisak’s intricately drawn hellish visions display similar ethical characteristics.

สังคมปัจจุบันเต็มไปด้วยปัญหาสลับซับซ้อนมากมาย อันเป็นผลเนื่องมาจากคุณธรรมและศีลธรรมได้ลดลงไปจากจิตใจของผู้คนในสังคม จนเกิดความวุ่นวาย เกิดปัญหาความขัดแย้ง ต้องการมีอำนาจเหนือผู้อื่น เป็นผลที่ทำให้เกิดความเสื่อมในสังคม จากที่ข้าพเจ้าได้พบเจอเป็นสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นตามสภาวะความจริงและกระทบต่อความรู้สึก

ข้าพเจ้าจึงเกิดแรงบันดาลใจและได้นำมาสร้างสรรค์เป็นผลงานศิลปะ ภาพสะท้อนสังคมเสื่อม ที่เกิดการฆาตกรรม โจรกรรม ตลอดจนการทำร้ายผู้มีพระคุณ สิ่งเหล่านี้ล้วนแต่เป็นการก่อกรรมทำชั่ว มนุษย์อยู่ในสภาวะไม่เกรงกลัวต่อบาป ปล่อยให้ความชั่วร้ายเข้ามาครอบงำ สังคมไทยปัจจุบันได้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสังคมเมืองอย่างรวดเร็ว จนทำให้มนุษย์เกิดความสะดวกสบายมากขึ้น แต่ถึงแม้สังคมไทยจะเจริญก้าวหน้าและพัฒนามากขึ้นเท่าไหร่ แต่ในเรื่องของพฤติกรรมมนุษย์กลับเกิดความเลวทราม ไร้ศีลธรรมเกิดเป็นปัญหาทางสังคมมากขึ้นทุกวัน

จากคติความเชื่อทางไตรภูมิพระพุทธศาสนาเรื่อง นรกภูมิ เป็นความเชื่อของคนไทยที่ได้ยึดถือปฏิบัติมานาน เป็นคติหลักคำสอนให้มนุษย์ละเว้นจากการทำกรรมชั่ว รู้จักยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจให้กระทำแต่ความดี เป็นคติความเชื่อที่สามารถกล่อมเกลาจิตใจมนุษย์ โดยชี้ให้มนุษย์เห็นว่าเรื่องของเวรกรรมนั้นมีจริง บุญ บาป ขึ้นอยู่กับการกระทำ ทำดีได้ดี ทำชั่วได้ชั่ว เมื่อมีชีวิตอยู่กระทำกรรมใดไว้ ตายไปก็จะได้รับผลกรรมตามที่ตนได้กระทำ
