3S : Spectacle – Subconscious – Spontaneous

This exhibition includes 3 artists/lecturers from Srinakharinwirot University. Their thoughts, subconsciousness, and feelings are represented through 3 different styles of contemporary artworks. Despite the disparity, the artworks are well refined into a harmonious synchrony creating an exhibition that will amaze the audience. 35 splits the artworks into 3 episodes. “ 1st Episode: Spectacle” presents Denpong Wongsarot's artworks who relays a human figure painting with a unique character of a round-headed human. It represents himself and an individual who lives in the current society where one needs to face with a load of information in their everyday life. A round-headed human depicted in the scene works as a critique of its surrounding society and a satire of societal issues and its prospect. The remarkableness in Wongsarot's artworks is also expressed through the brushstroke. He uses palette knives to paint in order to achieve a complex texture on the surface and to delicately suffuse colours into the figures “2nd Episode: Subconscious” presents Supoj Siriratchaneekorn's artworks. Both of his colour and black and white pieces express forms and symbolisms derived from the subconsciousness and the imagination that are blended together. In this series, he leads the audiences into his interpretation of the quote: กลางคืนเป็น nju nawawluulw or Being smoke in the night, Being fire during the day, and into his subconsciousness where the artist has fell into his own infinite stage of contemplation. Such contemplation from the night to the day and from the thought and subconsciousness to the story about the society around him have been transmuted into an artwork with symbolism that challenges the audience to interpret them. Moreover, an expressiveness from his brush stoke creates textures, elements, and colours that inspire the audiences to enjoy the artwork whenever they look at them.

“3rd Episode: Spontaneous” presents Sitthidham Rohitasuk's abstract paintings with an abstract expressionism style, focusing on expressing feelings. The artwork is created from the hybridization of dragged and free-handed strokes and varieties of expressive texture that they create. The artist is also inspired by jazz music that he likes which has a unique technique of “improvisation”. When he combines this inspiration with his “spontaneous” freed-handed stroke, he is able to create a diversity within this series, non-repetitive nor fixed by certain structure. This allows the audience to enjoy its liveliness permitting them to use their experience and feelings to interpret the artwork without any boundaries. Apart from that, 35 : Spectacle - Subconscious - Spontaneous is also holding a special event - “Artist Talk” that these 3 artists will be interviewed and discussed about their concepts and possibilities both in the aspects of artistic production and a career in an art academic field. This will be beneficial and interesting for the college students and the visitors participating the event.
