- Do not see the
sharp disc (demon) as the lotus
Nude women are true objects of beauty,
gentleness, attraction, and a pleasure to look at ... with a good intention
without lust. If one cannot let go of fleshly pleasures, good intentions
can become lust and sin, degrading both themselves and the society they
live in.
I the history of the world, mankind has lived and reproduced for so
long. Reproduction is a deep instinct which we cannot refuse, but humans
are born with a reasoning brain, creative and able to appreciate beauty.
That is why we do not live only to reproduce. We have religion, culture
and norms which contain us in virtue and goodness. However, the animal
instinct of lust is also inevitable. If we give in to these instinct,
it turns into sinful lust which hinders us from becoming true humans.
If we look at nature which surrounds us, everything is naked. Animals,
trees, objects, etc. We do not feel that it is nude or insulting. We
look at its true forms and figures with admiration.
Nonetheless, for human, it is a shameful thing to be naked, even though
we a part of nature with forms and figures which are innocently beautiful.
The reason is because we are used to covering our bodies to protect
ourselves from the ever-changing weather, until we are not at ease when
looking at a naked body.
This familiarity is not erasable, that is why we have developed attitude
and imagination of the purity of the form of the human body transferred
into forms of art. Artists use the naked human form to create the beautiful
meaning of art and beauty.
"The human body is the media for the sexual instinct of mankind
to reproduce." If the artists do not see the higher wisdom and
beauty of art, that piece of work will easily become a horrific pornography.
The latest collection of nude paintings (2003-2004) with ladies and
giants are like the saying "Do not see the sharp disc as the lotus."
It is a symbolic expression as giants represent evil things such as
power, lust etc, which at first these things will look alluring and
attractive. Those who are its slaves will be obsessed with it until
they cannot reach the higher life of goodness.
