Sweang Songmangmi was born in 1918,
in Bangkok, and graduated from the third class of the Fine Arts
School, Department of Crafts. He was interested in sculpture.
He later joined the Fine Arts Department and assisted Professor
Silpa Bhirasri in many monument works, namely the sailor and
the pilot soldier figures of the Victory Monument.
In 1953 he was awarded Artist of Distinction
in sculpture. His expertize is realistic sculpture. His female
nude sculptures are aesthetic, expressing the beauty of the human
body. He took his own life with a rifle in 1958 when he was 40
years oid.
