"Before I develop a work of art; I usually start with an idea and concept of what I want to acheive, then gradually develop it from there. But occasionnally, I just let my mind and hands work freely without any particular objective. This forces me to solve problems instantly as they arise, as well as learn new forms and directions. Space was a problem which concerned me for a while. To confine my art within a certain space sucessfully, I had to consider the total space allocated first before I began my work. This usually worked out well, but then then again, sometimes I failed.
This exhibition is a presentation of how I succeeded in creating art form from clay, colour from glazing and the development of textures."
"1992 Social life and the environment are being affected by modern technology and development. Synthetic materials and industrial product are being rapidly introduced into the way of living of mankind.
The aim of art works is to present my attitude towards those conditions. Themes and forms of my paintings including their structures, appearances, and symbolism derive from this concept. Combining materials of modern technology into mixed media characteristics also reflects culture and the way of life which are being changed in accordance with environment determined by material development."
"There are environmental problems, the change from original civilization to new culture and movement toward new lifestyles, as well as changes in the occupations of the Thai people. I have witnessed the life of fishermen who depend upon the sea and river for their living, and I have seen the planting of crops of which yields are sold in earning their living. Those are basic data for the creation of this set of artistic works. I have observed changes in earth, water, animals and plants; I have noted that people whose occupations are concerned in those elements have been influenced directly and indirectly by new changes.
The artisttic set has a structural shape that is composed of the forms of clods of earth, plants, vegetables, fruits, leaves, patterns and implements of fishermen, such as a boat, and tools for catching animals and fish. The significance of each detail section conforms to my intentions and idea. The significance of the set offered is the warning signs for our life and the present Thai society, that have been affected by new technology and new industrial developments. They have produced favorable material and living effects, but they have also brought about problems at the same time, in addition to influence upon our living."
"Universe a wide nature, an unlimited fantasy. Every existences were born on one line then grew up in systematic society. Human civilization and human destroy and their death... these are signs about our lives and society.
A life time an experience of human. People live and gain happiness from material world and new civilization. Science & tecnology seem to bring us the right way of living but some how the most important thing in our lives is our soul.
An unlimited Universe an origin of a pure soul, a freedom from all obligation, a neverending movement."
The Worldview of Vichoke Mukdamanee "This collection of art has been inspired by the drastic change of nature and environment in the city, as well as that of the pastoral landscape in the rural areas which have developed with the growth of modern technology.
The landscape, nature and space contained in the variety of new lifestyles builds an imaginative representation of the movement of present-day life. Forms and symbols related to life, nature and modern technology are used in an abstract way to represent this image. The bright, glittering space signifies the atmosphere of the modern world which is a mixture of natural forms and products of industry and science. The two aspects, one natural and the other from contemporary technology, meet and reflect new dimensions of today's Thai way."
